Fluid Weaves detail
2007
mixed media installation
Detail of fish cut from shower curtain on hand printed fabric with hand embroidery using hand dyed threads. Fluid Weaves was an installation examining the fragile ecosystems of tropical oceans in Polynesia. A 12 x 4 foot length of shibori dyed fabric was collaged with shibori dyed silks, scanned images printed onto fabric, silkscreen and hand embroidery was suspended from a rod covered in coloured mesh. Fishing lures made from dyed bone, jewellery and braided hand dyed and hand spun yarns, were suspended from the ceiling inches ahead of the imagery.
