Fermentation Study
Series of work exploring contrasting qualities of black denim with natural and unnatural dyeing techniques. Thick black denim is pieced together with other cotton fabrics with the use of hand stitching and embroidery. The cotton fabrics were dyed by indigo dyes, rust dyes (oxidizing iron on cotton), fermenting materials in jars for months at a time and through procion fibre reactive dyes. Threads for hand stitching were made of fibre reactive dyed cotton and commercially made cotton and polyester blend threads.
