Work > Drawings for Connie

This series of drawings were created while morning the death of a friend in late January 2018. Connie Jefferess was a local artist who I came to know better through a journal focus group in the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild Southwestern Ontario Chapter. When gaining full time employment, I lost the ability to attend the focus group. When Connie died nearly two years later, I not only missed my friend but was also reminded of our no longer being able to attend the focus group (an important exchange that used to take place between us and local book artists).

The drawings were created on 3.5 x 3.5 inch acid free rag paper also known as miniature Zentangle tiles. The techniques used in these drawings were inspired by a workshop with a local certified Zentangle teacher Lorraine Thomson. These drawings were used as a meditative exercise and a daily reminder of Connie's artistic energy.
